Renu started on June 12, 2015, in Thrissur, Kerala, as a sub-collector. After working in Thrissur for more than two years, the Tamilnadu government elevated her on May 28, 2020, to Director of Urban Affairs. She later assumed the position of Sub Collector in Devikulam. S. Rajendran, a local CPM MLA, openly humiliated and abused her. She refused to give in under pressure, and the MLA subsequently apologized.

Renu was appointed the 53rd commissioner of the Alappuzha district in March 2022.

IAS Renu Preparation Strategy

Renu advised us to study for both the UPSC prelims and mains at the same time because the mains exam must be taken within fifteen days of the release of the prelims results.

She began studying with NCERT books for classes 7 through 12, as well as classes 8 through 9.
Renu claims that starting in December 2013, she studied for anywhere from three to six hours every day.
She was meticulous about sticking to the proper routine, getting seven hours of sleep each night and always eating at the appropriate hour. Perhaps her background in medicine helped her make this decision.
Instead of devoting days to any one syllabus topic, she chose to finish the UPSC syllabus sooner.
She shunned group studies because she found them challenging.
Renu advises perusing “The Hindu,” Yojana, and Kurukshetra magazines for current affairs.
Taking practice examinations is the most crucial factor in achieving success on the IAS exam. She says she practised composing answers a lot, and it helped her tremendously.
