Pratham Kaushik IAS Biography

Pratham Kaushik was born on 28 September 1993, in the Mahendragarh District, Haryana. He is 29 years old of age and currently posted in Madhya Pradesh. According to him, his father is the main source of inspiration. His father is also a Haryana civil service officer.

He studies materials & metallurgical engineering at the Punjab Engineering College.

This was his second attempt at the exam. He has given the written exam in 2016 but only to understand the pattern of the examination and to get an idea of how to write the exam. In 2017, he secured AIR 5 in the UPSC exam and become the topper in the nation.

Pratham Kaushik’s Educational Background

Pratham Kaushik is a native of Mahendragarh district, Haryana. After finishing school, Pratham did his Engineering Degree from Punjab Engineering College. But he made up his mind to give the Civil Services Examination during his graduation. We all know that it takes a lot of hard work and patience for one needs to have the courage and dedication to pass this exam. Pratham started his preparation for the CSE during his graduation.

Pratham believes that it is not important to start preparations early and also age does not have any relation of being an aspirant. One can start their preparation whenever they like (within the eligibility criteria) but he/she needs to remain focused and must work hard to accomplish their goals.

Kaushik claims that make your sources are limited and he studies NCERT books more than other sources. His preparation was all based on NCERT, and he prepared notes from them. He relied on studying NCERT books more than once for the UPSC exam, especially for his General Studies 1 paper.

According to him, NCERT books are very useful and helpful in the UPSC exam preparation as they are made according to the government guidelines.
