Pratham Kaushik chose Geography as his optional subject.  He took geography wisely as it would also help him in GS papers. According to him, Geography is a very interesting subject as it is all about nature.

That is the reason, he took geography as his optional subject. He had a good interest in this subject, and it also helped him to score All India Rank 5 in the exams.

Pratham Kaushik IAS Strategy

Pratham believes that it is not important to start preparations early and also age does not have any relation of being an aspirant. One can start their preparation whenever they like (within the eligibility criteria) but he/she needs to remain focused and must work hard to accomplish their goals.

Kaushik claims that make your sources are limited and he studies NCERT books more than other sources. His preparation was all based on NCERT, and he prepared notes from them. He relied on studying NCERT books more than once for the UPSC exam, especially for his General Studies 1 paper.

According to him, NCERT books are very useful and helpful in the UPSC exam preparation as they are made according to the government guidelines.

NCERT books are available everywhere and are very cost-friendly. If a candidate wants to download the e-pdf of the NCERT they can get access to the book for free from the official site of NCERT website.
