It began producing the DTP vaccine in 1974, which is proven to protect children from diphtheria, pertussis, and tetanus. It developed an anti-snake venom serum in 1981 to cure snakebites.

Serum Institution grew to become the world’s largest vaccine manufacturer, serving 150 nations, including America and Europe. It is also a well-known manufacturer of paediatric immunisations. Serum Institution controls 60 per cent of the global vaccine manufacturing industry.
