Saumya Sharma was born and brought up in Delhi, in 1994. She is a lawyer by profession and graduated from National Law University, Delhi in 2017. Her both parents are doctors. This was her first attempt at the UPSC. The sense of her hearing deteriorated steeply when she was 16 years old, and since then she has been using hearing aids.

Her first deal with competitive exams was when she appeared for the law entrance exams in 2012 for CLAT and AILET. After that, while pursuing law she decided to give the civil service examination. Her motivation to attempt the examination was the unique platform provided by civil services to serve the country in a meaningful way.

Saumya Sharma was born and brought up in Delhi, in 1994. Her father, Ashok Sharma, and her mother, Leena Sharma, both are doctors by profession. Saumya develops her interest in reading newspapers at the age of 3. She also has a brother named Abhishek Sharma.

Saumya has completed her studies in Delhi. She did her schooling in Delhi, and she scores a 10 CGPA in her 10th class. and in the 12th class, she scores 94%. She completed her graduation from National Law University, Delhi, with BA, LLB (Honors) and scored a 7.03 CGPA out of 8. At an early age, she wanted to become a neurologist but later on, she changes her decision and started studying law. She started her preparation for the exams in the last semester of her law degree.
